Qualification: This role is autonomous and, ideally, requires a healthcare professional with five years work experience and good management skills. 

Mission: as the Clinical volunteer Coordinator, you visit both the clinics and do administration tasks at the office. Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and overseeing the planning of work roles; orientating, supporting and inducting the medical volunteers into their roles and their work place.
• Being available for all volunteers, maintaining good morale by providing opportunity to discuss personal and professional issues. Arranging regular volunteers meetings.
• Providing feedback for reports, reviews, references etc.
• Updating volunteer job descriptions as necessary and adapting new positions when required.
• Recruitment liaison with the Support Groups regarding new applicants, ensuring the criteria for the volunteer job descriptions are fulfilled and providing relevant volunteer feedback. Liason with medical volunteers applying directly to Calcutta Rescue Kolkata
• Being a good listening, professional ear for local staff and advocating their needs. Having an active role in the monitoring, evaluation and updating of protocols and clinical practices in all medical areas.
• Implementing a new structure of a “Project Mentor” in the teams supporting a newly joining volunteer as well as “Volunteer Mentor”, existing volunteer to new volunteer.

Qualification: general or internal medicine with interest in paediatrics or paediatrician, or nurse with interest in paediatrics.

Mission: help on medical screening and reviews of children, to enhance the follow up of children and visibility of the weakest (malnourished, low BMI, anaemia, chronic disease, social issues, etc). Continue training of medical room assistant. Implement any improvement identified as useful.
Other activities possible in school: participate in hygiene and health education to staff and students. 
Work with: medical room assistant and school Doctor who visits each school once a week.

Qualification: general or internal medicine with interest in paediatrics or paediatrician, or nurse with experience in paediatrics.

Mission: supervision of health worker regarding malnutrition screening and data collection on a paediatric nutritional pilot project in a slum area of street medicine. The aim is to get as much data as possible and analyze it to extend the project to other areas. Implement any improvement identified as useful.
- 1 visit per week, + paperwork 1 day per week.

The patient group consists mainly of children and sometimes adults with learning disabilities, behavioral problems, mental, sensory and/or physical disabilities . Responsibilities of the disability nurse are: observe and advice the Disability Department Supervisor (D.D.S) on the following:

• Conducting initial assessments of patients with disabilities attending the clinics.
• Formulating an individual Care Plan of action based on the assessment findings to meet the patient’s needs.
• Advising patients and their families about health, diet, exercise, obtaining additional support, and utilizing outside resources.
• Develop knowledge through training and orientation to the Staffs and caregivers on issues like Women’s Rights, Gender, Sexual & Reproductive Health rights, Disability Legislations, Policies & Schemes, responding to violence etc.

Calcutta Rescue runs 2 schools and several clinics in Kolkata. For the schools we need a volunteer school health nurse. the nurse will be based at the two Calcutta Rescue Schools and works with the staff of schools and clinics to ensure that students have their medical needs addressed. It includes screening of the children under 12 years of age to identify any health issues, parasitic infections, dental-and eye problems, ensuring their vaccinations are up-to-date and referring children for appropriate medical care. She/he will have a leading role in monitoring the children, who are in the special diet program. The role also includes teaching health education to staff within schools.

The role of a doctor is providing repeat prescriptions under the supervision of the Indian doctor.

• Eg prescriptions for patients suffering from chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension or asthma) who are in a stable condition.
• Assist the clinic doctors in project work on hypertension, diabetes, thalassaemia or COPD. This includes collection & tabulation of data from the patient’s treatment card about lifestyle, medication, BP recordings, and complications arising including target organ disease involvement.
• Health screening of the children in Calcutta Rescue’s schools, including medical examination of newly admitted children; ensuring children have been immunized.
• Updating protocols.
